South Indian Wedding Photography
Priyanka & Aniket
May we remember our big day forever. The sweet chime of laughter, the roses all around, and the way you looked at me, like nothing else mattered.
The winter sun was slowly waking up over Maharashtra skies, painting them gorgeous in shades of azure blue and white. The air was crisp and fresh, sprayed with the songs of birds and the dew of the many emerald trees around. I was in the charming old city of Solapur, in a region that exudes multi-cultural flavours. Having learned about its tri-linguistic blend of Kannada, Marathi, and Telugu cultures, I was eagerly looking forward to the next couple of days that awaited me. I was there to document the holy union of Priyanka and Aniket, an adoring couple anticipating their charming and traditional south Indian wedding. The two-day celebration began with the groom’s gala entry to the venue. Soon enough, the couple’s loved ones all gathered to exchange gifts and offer worships for the engagement, tying the two families in a sacred bond. The engagement was followed by a heartwarming haldi ceremony at night, adding a splash of colour to this wonderful south Indian wedding. Dressed in spirited shades of yellow, the families gathered to sing, dance, and exchange stories of love. With beautiful shades of gold all around, I was delighted to capture south Indian wedding photos that truly showcased the glory and beauty of age-old traditions.
The next morning arrived with the melody of shehnais and the chanting of holy prayers. It was the big south Indian wedding day for Priyanka and Aniket, and the merriment showed all across the wedding hall. Dressed in a silken saree of pink and blue and adorned with delicate ornaments of gold, Priyanka looked nothing short of an Indian goddess. At the same time, Aniket’s south Indian wedding look was enhanced by a traditional purple paghdi and silken lungi. As the couple engaged in one beautiful ritual after another, my team and I indulged in capturing the big and small moments that sprung and disappeared in a graceful jiffy. As the sun rose further up, we managed to squeeze in some quiet time alone with the bride and the groom, when each precious minute was spent capturing portraits that would be at the heart of their south Indian wedding photography. Soon, evening arrived with a jolly reception, when the bride, all decked up in red, and the groom, shining bright in silvers and whites, greeted the guests and took their blessings. The day ended with happy celebrations and memorable family portraits, till the elated groom walked out with his stunning bride in a grand procession of music, dance, and confetti. Truly, the couple knew how to make an exit to remember.
