Oh, what a joyride it is—to celebrate the beginning of us, to mark our space in this paradise called forever.

Anisha and Rohit’s wedding was a blithely seven-day affair. It was a vivacious week, and the weather gave an impression that all of Hyderabad was participating in the couple’s union. The first few days were about delving into a Telugu wedding’s festive traditions, where Anisha’s loved ones all gathered at her scenic villa in Hyderabad. Cocktail marked the beginning of the weeklong party, whereas Pellikuthuru brought the onset of the wedding rituals. It was followed by an elegant Haldi with pleasant earthy shades all around. Then came a colourful Mehendi that took everyone on a round of lively music and dance. It made way for Pradhanam, which was the final rite before the wedding ceremony.

Thus, with all the colour, joy, melodies, and merriment came the big day. As the afternoon rolled down the day, Rohit donned his sherwani in Hyatt Hyderabad, quietly and yet happily anticipating the evening. Simultaneously, Anisha adorned her brilliant green and beige saree at her home, softly humming and blushing as she watched the dusk fall. When the sun’s last rays had faded, they made their way to the 900-year old temple of Ammapally. The wedding rites took place with quite the fanfare, and I was delighted to see that immense joy had taken over the place. Innocuous games were played, blessings were taken, and a promise of forever was lovingly exchanged. And when it came to bidding the night farewell, I could see the love and bittersweet goodbye galore in everyone’s eyes. And as the happy couple drove off, I just stood there to take in the events of the entire week. Oh, what a blissful ride it had been.
