A dreamlike destination wedding: Our ode to love, light, and making a fairytale come true.

It was a perfectly pleasant day in the city of Rajkot, and the skies had adorned a pastel blue that morning. I was at the Heritage Khirasara Palace, one of the best places for an Indian destination wedding. And with me were the most ebullient set of families, eagerly looking forward to the Shirish and Nidhi’s big day. After two years of poetic anticipation, the couple was all set to tie the knot under a beautiful symphony of the twinkling night sky. But the festivities began right at dawn, blooming one after another as we relished this blissful destination wedding in Gujarat.

At Haldi that morning, it felt like the sun itself had stepped among us with all its sunshine. Dressed in the brightest yellow against the cooling shades of Nidhi’s green and lemon attire, the friends and family rejoiced in a riot of happy colours. And then slowly, the fanfare of music and dance made way for quiet, soothing afternoon hours. I spent them crafting portraits of the ever-charming Nidhi, and then a composed Shirish. The daylight was kissing the air golden, the royal milieus of the heritage hotel made for the perfect backdrop, and the composure and ecstasy in their eyes marked the pictures with grace.

Soon, as the sun dipped lower and lower in the orange skies, the bride and groom prepared for the momentous event at their Indian destination wedding. A truly stunning Nidhi walked up to the vibrant wedding dais in her remarkable red and pearl saree. With love glimmering in her eyess, she adorned a smile that lit up the whole evening all over again. Whereas Shirish was all blushes during his ravishing entry in a beige turban, delicate kurta, and a royal sword. The rest of the night unfurled in glee, made all the more precious with bouts of laughter, heartening anecdotes, and tears of joy. When it all culminated to a glorious end, Nidhi bid goodbye to her family in the most heartwarming bidai, as shiny little stars and their beautiful silence slowly took over all of the night sky.
